Shock! Elder McBride again. Walking in the mornings has been fun lately. Usually see a deer or two. For example, a few days ago walking back up Warsaw Street we saw a young buck (that's a male deer, kids) snacking on some crab apples under a tree only 2 blocks away from our home. We spotted him from 40 or 50 yards away, and as we got closer, the deer just kept on nibbling. Getting even closer didn't phase our friend. We got to within 5 or 10 feet, and he just kept searching for more goodies. We watched awhile and talked to him, but he must not speak English. We walked away, and that was that. But very fun.
Two weeks ago on P day, we drove down to Springfield, IL to see the Lincoln Museum, Home, and Tomb. We went with the Calls. What a wonderful experience! It rained all the way down, and we were prepared for wet. To our surprise, it didn't rain at all in Springfield. Overcast, but no rain. We took two opportunities to bear our testimonies to volunteers along the way, and they were well received. The tomb was first, and a very neat spirit there. Lincoln's home was fun. It kind of reminded us of the tours we give in Nauvoo. Lot's of similarities with some of the Nauvoo homes.

The Museum was the best. So well done. We could have spent more time there so we are already planning to go back there next year. The movies and presentations were stunning, and we all got a good idea of how thing were back then. It's hard to believe how many people, especially the press, hated Lincoln and what he stood for. I couldn't help but think of how much Satan works overtime to thwart the progress of goodness on this earth. Satan doesn't want anyone to be free. He doesn't want anyone to spread goodness. Abe was a great man who relied on God a great deal. All kinds of "secret combinations" were conspiring against him. Remind anyone of Joseph Smith? Well, some pictures follow, and I think most of them are self explanatory. Love you all!!!!!
The whole Lincoln family greeted us at the entrance to the White House (museum)
